One hundred AmeriCorps members from throughout the state of Nebraska celebrated their 2011-2012 service with a day dedicated to informative trainings, informal fellowship, and a special address and swearing-in ceremony by Nebraska First Lady Sally Ganem.

This ServeNebraska signature event, held in October at a Lincoln hotel, included four 1-hour training sessions to meet the initial training needs of new members. ServeNebraska's AmeriCorps/Disability Program Officer, Cathy Plager, and Training Program Officer Kimberle Hall presented an overview of civic reflection and co-facilitated a discussion of Andrew Wyeth's painting Kalounna in Frogtown.

Kimberle Hall created a combination calendar/journal for the AmeriCorps members to help them incorporate reflection into their year of service. This publication includes information and guiding thoughts about the newest signature event, an end-of-year celebration and symposium to be held in May 2012.
